Interconnect Networks Pty Ltd (ABN 35 659 014 767), trading as RBE (“RBE”, “we”, “us”, “our”), is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, hold, disclose and protect your personal information, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Last updated: July 2026.
The personal information we collect
The kinds of personal information we collect depend on the products and services you use. They may include:
- Identity and contact details — your name, service and billing address, email address and phone number.
- Proof-of-identity information — your date of birth and identification details where we are required to verify your identity before providing a service.
- Service and location details — your NBN location ID and the access technology and address at which your service is delivered.
- Account and billing information — your plan, account history, payment records and correspondence with us. Payment card and direct-debit details are collected and processed through our payment gateway; we do not store full card numbers on our own systems.
- Service usage data — information about your use of the service and your account that we need to operate, bill and support it.
- Support and communications — records of your contact with our support team, including emails, calls and messages.
Where it is lawful and practicable, you may deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym — although we may be unable to provide or bill a service without the information above.
How we collect your personal information
We collect personal information directly from you wherever we can — for example when you place an order through our website, set up or manage your account, or contact our support team by phone, email or online. We may also collect information from third parties where you have authorised it or the law permits, such as when we verify an address or NBN service qualification, or receive information from a credit reporting body as part of a credit assessment.
Why we collect, hold, use and disclose it
We collect and use your personal information to:
- provide, activate, manage and bill your internet service;
- respond to your enquiries and provide technical and account support;
- verify your identity and carry out fraud and credit checks where appropriate;
- send you service-related communications, such as outage, maintenance, billing and account notices;
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including under the Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth) and related laws; and
- improve our products, services and support.
We will only use your information for the purpose for which it was collected, a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where you have consented or the law otherwise permits.
Who we disclose your information to
We may disclose your personal information to third parties where it is necessary to provide your service, or is required or authorised by law, including:
- NBN Co and our wholesale and network supplier, to order, provision, fault-manage and maintain your connection;
- our billing and account-management provider, which we use to operate our billing and customer systems;
- our payment processor, to process payments securely;
- professional advisers, credit reporting bodies and service providers who help us run our business, under obligations of confidentiality; and
- government, law enforcement and regulatory bodies where we are required or authorised by law to do so.
We do not sell your personal information.
Overseas disclosure
We store and process personal information in Australia. We do not routinely disclose your personal information to recipients located overseas. If that position changes — for example if a supplier we use stores data outside Australia — we will take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, and we will update this policy.
Storage and security
We hold personal information in electronic and, where relevant, physical form, and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include access controls, secure systems and staff confidentiality obligations. When personal information is no longer needed for any purpose for which it may be used or disclosed, and we are not required by law to retain it, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function, to remember your preferences and to understand how the site is used. Analytics tools may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and the time of your visit, generally in aggregated form. You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, although some parts of the website may not work as intended if you do.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. There is no charge to make a request, although we may charge a reasonable fee for giving access in some cases. If we refuse access or correction, we will tell you why in writing.
